Himalayan salt lamps and décor, wholesale, with the cord certificate attached
Natural rough, carved shapes, basket lamps, USB night lights and tealight holders, cut and finished in Punjab. Every mains lamp ships with a UL or ETL certified cord set, and we publish the certificate number rather than asking you to take our word for it.
What we actually cut, and who buys each one
Natural rough
Hand-broken chunk, flat sawn bottom, sides as they came off the block. Cheapest to make, best margin, reads as authentic on a shelf. No two alike good in a gift shop, awkward in a planogram. We sort tighter on request, but the rejects carry a surcharge.
Carved shapes
Pyramid, sphere, cube, obelisk, bowl and fire-bowl, heart, plus animal figures (owl, elephant, cat) that move at Christmas. Hand-carved, so two to three times a natural piece of the same weight. Obelisks chip at the tip more than anything else we ship.
Basket lamps
Loose 30–60 mm chunks in a powder-coated or brushed metal basket. Light for their visual size and near-impossible to break chunks rattle, they do not shatter. Check your tariff line; the metal can shift it.
USB and night lights
Pieces of 300–900 g on a USB lead with a low-power LED, often colour-cycling. No mains plug, no plug certification headache, which is why this format has grown fastest. Impulse buy under $15.
Candle and tealight holders
No electrics a drilled cavity sized for a standard 38 mm tealight. Lowest unit price in the range and the cleanest through customs.
Bases
Sheesham, rubberwood or stained MDF by default. Marble and onyx cost more but resist weeping far better than untreated timber, which stains and swells. Selling into Florida or Southeast Asia? Pay for marble. It costs less than the returns.
One of each format, couriered. Credited against your first order over 300 pieces.
Indicative FOB Karachi prices per piece
US dollars, 500–piece mixed order, August 2026, complete with cord set, bulb, base and inner carton. Indicative, not a binding offer. The retail column is what we see on North American and European shelves.

The cord is the product. The salt is just the shade.
The salt has never caused a safety incident. The cord set does. The switch does. The plug does. Audit the mineral and wave the cord through and you have audited the wrong half of the product.
The 2017 recall is the reference case. In January 2017 the US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of approximately 80,000 “Lumière” brand rock salt lamps sold through Michaels. The dimmer switch and/or outlet plug could overheat and ignite shock and fire hazard. Made in Pakistan; recalling firm SporTex US. Nothing in it concerned the mineral, only a cheap cord assembly with a dimmer on it.
What we fit. Every mains lamp carries a cord set certified by UL or ETL (Intertek), from a named component supplier rather than whichever trader had stock that week, and the file number goes to you with the pro-forma invoice. The finished lamp is usually not a listed product the cord set is, and that is what you should demand the certificate for.
Dimmers. The most failure-prone component here, and the one buyers ask for because it looks premium. Certified units only, with a plain rocker switch quoted alongside. If an uncertified dimmer is what holds your price point, walk away from the price.
“Send me the UL or ETL certificate and file number for the cord set fitted to this lamp, plus the component manufacturer's name.” A factory certificate, a salt test report or a CE self-declaration for a US shipment is not it.

One warning on LED: a cool bulb does not dry the salt, so you trade wattage for a lamp that sweats more.
Weeping lamps: normal physics, badly explained by everyone
Halite is hygroscopic. Above roughly 75% relative humidity it holds water on its surface. In a Karachi warehouse in July, or a distribution centre in Houston in August, a pallet of unlit lamps beads with moisture that runs down the base onto the shelf below. Not a defect it is what the mineral does. It still costs money, and most buyers learn that only after a lamp has stained a retail fixture.
At our end
Each lamp is shrink-wrapped before it goes in the inner carton, with a silica gel sachet sized to the carton volume and a second desiccant pouch in the master carton for humid-season shipments. Lamps that sat unwrapped through a monsoon week we do not ship; they arrive dull and pitted.
At yours
Store cartons on pallets, off the concrete, away from loading-bay doors and cold walls. Keep display bulbs on through opening hours a 15 W incandescent holds the surface dry indefinitely. That one instruction removes most weeping complaints.
Print it on the leaflet as well. A customer who reads “may sweat in humid conditions, leave it switched on” before opening the box does not file a return. One who finds a puddle does.
One page covering weeping, bulb replacement, dry-cloth cleaning and not standing the lamp on unsealed wood. Reprint it under your own brand at no charge.
Lamps are a cube problem, not a weight problem
Bulk edible salt fills a container's payload long before it fills the space. Lamps do the opposite, which flips how you should think about freight cost per unit.
| Weight band | Pcs / master carton | Carton gross | Pcs / 20ft | Container gross |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 kg | 12 | ~21 kg | 5,800–6,500 | ~11 MT |
| 2–3 kg | 8 | ~23 kg | 4,400–4,900 | ~13 MT |
| 3–5 kg | 6 | ~26 kg | 3,300–3,700 | ~15 MT |
| 5–7 kg | 4 | ~25 kg | 2,600–3,000 | ~17 MT |
| 7–10 kg | 3 | ~27 kg | 1,900–2,200 | ~18 MT |
| USB / tealight | 24 | ~19 kg | 11,000–13,000 | ~9 MT |
Carton specification
Double-wall corrugated, 5-ply, minimum 150 lb burst test on every master carton, no exceptions. Inner cartons single-wall with a die-cut insert. Each lamp gets shrink-wrap, a moulded EPE foam sleeve or corner set, then the inner box. Tipped shapes get a foam cap on the apex, where damage happens. Cords are bagged separately so the plug pins cannot score the salt.
Breakage, and who pays
We target under 1.5% breakage on a full container and credit anything above 2% against photographs of the pieces alongside the carton they arrived in. Arguing over a $4 lamp costs more than replacing it.
The real driver is loading, not carton spec. Floor-loaded cartons shift on a rough sea leg, a stack topples, the bottom row crushes. We palletise as standard wrapped, strapped, airbags in the voids. Floor loading gains maybe 8–12% more pieces and only pays with cheap labour at the destination. We will do it on request, noted on the order confirmation.
A 20ft container of 2–3 kg lamps grosses about 13 MT against roughly 28 MT available. You are paying to ship air and foam. Think in pieces, not tons.
What we will not print on your carton
No air purification claims, no negative ion claims, no allergy relief, mood or sleep benefit. Not on a carton, not on a hang tag, not on the leaflet, not in listing copy we write for you.
The evidence is not there. The ion output of a warm rock is negligible against room air, and no controlled study supports the claims circulating around this product. Printing them risks your listing with marketplace compliance teams and, in some markets, the advertising regulator.
That costs you nothing, because it is not what sells the thing. What sells a salt lamp is warm low-colour-temperature light in a room where every other source is blue; a mineral hundreds of millions of years old on a desk; no two pieces identical; a gift that looks like it cost more than it did. All true, all defensible, and more persuasive than a claim the customer half-believes.
We write hang-tag copy along those lines for private-label orders. If your marketing team wants a claim we think is unsupportable, we say so in writing and leave it off the print file.
Your brand, from the hang tag to the master carton
Most lamp buyers arrive with an unbranded product and a plan to fix it later. Print set-up is a one-time cost, so building packaging into the first run beats relabelling a container.
Gift boxes. Printed corrugated or rigid, four-colour, matte or gloss laminate, die-cut foam or moulded pulp insert, minimum 300 units per size. A printed box usually lifts achievable retail by more than it costs, especially in the 2–5 kg bands bought as presents.
Hang tags and barcodes. Strung tags with logo, origin statement, weight band and care line. GS1 barcodes at piece and carton level, scan-verified before the run so you do not receive 4,000 unreadable labels.
Leaflets. The care insert above under your branding, plus the electrical safety notice and bulb specification, in English, German, French or Spanish.
Master carton artwork. Logo, item code, piece count, gross and net weight, origin marking, handling symbols, one or two colours. A correctly marked carton is what stops a receiving clerk opening every box.
Vector logo (AI, EPS or PDF), Pantone references, your GS1 prefix and any mandatory market text. You get a dieline and digital proof before plates are cut. Two revision rounds included.
Salt lamp questions buyers ask before the first order
Yes, from a named component supplier whose file number we give you in writing. Ask for the certificate covering the cord set itself the cord assembly is the listed item, and a factory certificate is not the same document.
In January 2017 the CPSC announced a recall of roughly 80,000 “Lumière” brand rock salt lamps sold at Michaels: the dimmer switch and outlet plug could overheat and ignite. Made in Pakistan, recalling firm SporTex US. The cord assembly failed, not the mineral.
Salt is hygroscopic. Above about 75% relative humidity the surface holds water and it runs to the base. Normal physics, not a defect. Keep the bulb on and store cartons off the floor.
Not to any degree worth claiming, and we will not print it. Sell light quality, colour, craft and gift appeal instead those survive a compliance review and a sceptical customer.
50 pieces, mixed across formats and bands, deliberately low so you can test a range. Printed gift boxes start at 300 units per box size because of print set-up.
Roughly 2,600 to 6,500 pieces depending on the band, 11,000 or more for USB and tealight. You run out of cube long before payload a 20ft box of 2–3 kg lamps grosses about 13 MT against 28 MT available.
Yes, and it is common for buyers serving the US and the EU from one warehouse. Master cartons are marked by voltage and plug type and the two go on separate pallets, with a small surcharge because it splits the assembly line. Mixing voltages inside one master carton we refuse; it guarantees a mis-ship.
