The full Himalayan salt catalogue, with the numbers attached
Seven product lines out of one facility. Every category below links to a page with grain sizes, specifications, packing options, minimum order quantities and indicative price bands — not a contact form.
If you only remember one table from this site, make it this one
Nine out of ten mis-orders we see come from picking the wrong grain size, not the wrong product. Here is what each fraction is actually used for.
| Grade | Grain size | Typical use | Packing | MOQ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Extra fine / powder | < 0.3 mm | Shakers, spice blends, bath bombs, cosmetics | 25 kg bag | 25 kg |
| Fine | 0.3–1.0 mm | Table salt, baking, food manufacturing lines | 25 kg / 50 lb / tote | 25 kg |
| Medium | 1.0–2.0 mm | General cooking, brining, seasoning blends | 25 kg / 50 lb / tote | 25 kg |
| Coarse | 2.0–5.0 mm | Grinders and mills, finishing salt, curing | 25 kg / 50 lb / tote | 25 kg |
| Extra coarse | 5.0–8.0 mm | Bath soaks, decorative fills, large mills | 25 kg bag | 25 kg |
| Chunks / rock | 10–80 mm | Salt walls, décor, animal licks, display | 25 kg / bulk bag | 500 kg |
There is no binding international standard behind the words "fine" or "coarse" every exporter draws the lines slightly differently. Always specify the millimetre range in your purchase order, and for food-manufacturing lines ask for a sieve analysis rather than a category name. We supply particle size distribution data on request at no charge.
What a serious buyer asks for, and what we send back
When a food manufacturer's QA team requests a specification from us, they get a two-page document with the following on it. If a supplier cannot produce this in under 24 hours, that tells you something about how they run their lab relationship.
- Sodium chloride content on a dry basis, with the test method
- Moisture by loss on drying at 110 °C
- Matter insoluble in water
- Heavy metals: lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury, plus copper
- Particle size distribution by sieve analysis
- Microbiological results where the lot is retail-facing
- Anti-caking agents: none added, stated explicitly
- Allergen and GMO statements, shelf life and storage conditions
- Lot number, production date and the issuing laboratory
Two caveats we put in writing rather than hiding. First, the heavy-metal limits quoted across this industry are typical buyer specifications and Codex-adjacent reference values the United States does not set a single codified heavy-metal limit specific to salt, so your own internal spec or your retailer's spec is what actually governs. Second, Codex sets food-grade salt at a minimum of 97% NaCl on a dry basis; anyone quoting "99.9% pure Himalayan salt" is describing a refined product, not a hand-mined one.
Sample specification sheet
| NaCl (dry basis) | 97.0–99.0% |
| Moisture (LOD 110°C) | ≤ 0.5% |
| Water insolubles | ≤ 0.8% |
| Lead (Pb) | ≤ 2.0 mg/kg |
| Arsenic (As) | ≤ 0.5 mg/kg |
| Cadmium (Cd) | ≤ 0.5 mg/kg |
| Mercury (Hg) | ≤ 0.1 mg/kg |
| Copper (Cu) | ≤ 2.0 mg/kg |
| Anti-caking agent | None added |
| Shelf life | Indefinite, dry storage |
Illustrative values. Each shipment ships with its own lab-issued certificate of analysis carrying the actual results for that lot.
How it arrives
| Format | Net weight | Best for | Per 20ft container |
|---|---|---|---|
| Courier carton | 5 / 10 / 25 kg | Samples and trial orders | — |
| PP bag with PE liner | 25 kg | Standard bulk edible and bath grades | ~960–1,080 bags |
| PP bag, US retail size | 50 lb (22.7 kg) | US distributors and repackers | ~1,050–1,180 bags |
| FIBC bulk bag / tote | 1,000–1,250 kg | Food plants with tote handling | 20–24 totes |
| Retail pack, your label | 200 g – 5 kg | Private label and grocery | Depends on carton cube |
A 20ft container's engineering maximum payload is around 28.2 metric tons, but bagged salt on pallets, plus destination road-weight limits, usually means a forwarder books 24–27 MT net. Because salt is dense, a 40ft box rarely carries double the weight of a 20ft you run out of weight allowance long before you run out of cube.
